Roxboro National School has a long and proud history in quizzes and this success ranks amongst the finest of the school’s achievements. Every year we participate in the Library Quiz, Cumann na mBunscol Sports Quiz, Credit Union Quiz and the Scór Quiz. The children thoroughly enjoy taking part and preparing for them.
One of our teams made it through to the All-Ireland Credit Union Quiz Final last year. It all began in the finals of the Lanesboro/Ballyleague Credit Union competition, when they came out on top of a group of schools from Roscommon and Longford. This success qualified them to take part in the Chapter / Regional Finals, which were held in Athlone. Once again the Roxboro emerged victoriously and thus qualified for the All Ireland Finals in the RDS.
Roxboro N.S. also has a distinguished record in the annual Cumann na mBunscol sports quiz where we have been county winners on numerous occasions. Historically, the National Parents’ Council ran an annual nationwide quiz and in this we reached the national final on four occasions.
